India’s T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, reached the BCCI Headquarters in Mumbai on Tuesday, August 19, braving heavy rainfall, to attend the 2025 Asia Cup squad selection meeting. The session, led by chief selector Ajit Agarkar, will finalize the team for the upcoming tournament.

Suryakumar arrived dressed casually in a black t-shirt paired with cream pants, white shoes, and accessorized with a chain and sunglasses. He was escorted inside under an umbrella as the downpour continued across the city. You can watch the video here:

According to a Sportstar journalist, the Asia Cup selection meeting has been postponed due to adverse weather conditions. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, who is also the convenor of the meeting, along with some selectors, have not yet reached Mumbai.

The 2025 Asia Cup is scheduled to take place in the UAE, starting on September 9, with the final set for September 28. Eight teams will participate, divided into two groups. India’s squad will be officially announced at a press conference by Ajit Agarkar and Suryakumar Yadav.

Suryakumar Yadav Clears Fitness Test Ahead Of 2025 Asia Cup

Suryakumar Yadav has successfully cleared a fitness test ahead of the 2025 Asia Cup. The right-hander had undergone sports hernia surgery in June, shortly after the conclusion of the IPL 2025 season. As per a PTI report via Sportstar, he passed the fitness assessment at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru.

Since then, Suryakumar has focused on regaining peak fitness, spending time in the gym and practicing in the nets ahead of the tournament. He enjoyed a stellar IPL 2025 campaign for the Mumbai Indians, amassing 717 runs in 16 matches at an impressive average of 65.18 and a strike rate of 167.91, including five half-centuries.

The 34-year-old has represented India in 83 T20Is, scoring 2,598 runs at an average of 38.20 and a strike rate of 167.07, with four centuries and 21 fifties to his name.
