Led by Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian cricket team has landed in Melbourne for the second T20I of the series against Australia. After rain washed out the opening match in Canberra, the Men in Blue will aim to make a strong comeback in the limited-overs contest.
India began the series on a promising note, with captain Suryakumar Yadav and opener Shubman Gill showing fine form and solid understanding at the crease despite limited recent game time. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted a video capturing the team’s arrival in Melbourne, showcasing players in their stylish travel outfits.
The clip featured skipper Suryakumar Yadav, pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, and dynamic opener Abhishek Sharma as they were seen leaving their hotel and boarding the team bus. You can watch the video here:

Jasprit Bumrah took a moment to interact with fans, signing autographs for young children eagerly waiting outside the team hotel. The video also captured glimpses of Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma’s close camaraderie, highlighting their cheerful bond as the Indian team travelled from Canberra to Melbourne for the next leg of the series.
Cricket fans in Canberra were left disheartened after the much-anticipated clash ended in a washout. Team India had made a bright start at the Manuka Oval, with the batters showcasing fine touch and their trademark T20 aggression before rain intervened.
Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav Shine In Washed-Out 1st T20I Against Australia
In the opening T20I, Australia opted to bowl first, giving India the chance to set a target. The partnership between Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav proved crucial, with both players showcasing an array of impressive strokes. Suryakumar, in particular, appeared in fine rhythm, marking a strong return after a below-par run during the Asia Cup.
Team India was cruising at 97/1 in just 9.4 overs when heavy rain interrupted play, eventually leading to the match being called off. The second T20I between India and Australia is scheduled for tomorrow, October 31, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Victoria. Supporters will be hoping that the weather stays clear this time and the contest goes ahead without interruption.
