Watch – Tom Latham Grabs A Stunner To Dismiss Prithvi Shaw

New Zealand have once again taken the driver’s seat in the opening day of the second and the final Test against India at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch. They bowled out Virat Kohli & Co for a mere 242 runs before getting a good start with the bat. Meanwhile, the changing point for the Kiwis was the dismissal of Prithvi Shaw, who made a brisk start with the bat taking on the New Zealand bowlers.

Despite losing Mayank Agarwal early after Kane Williamson asked India to bat first, Prithvi Shaw showed confidence to take on the Kiwis. He played his natural game hitting some glorious drives and pulls to give the Indian fans, who woke up early to witness the game unfold in Christchurch, something to cheer about.

He brought his fifty at a good strike rate hitting eight boundaries and six before perishing. In the process, Prithvi Shaw became the second youngest India to scale a half-century in the land of Kiwis. Meanwhile, Tom Latham produced a scintillating catch in the slip cordon to make things happen for the home side.

Shaw went fishing after a full and wide delivery and the edge flies over the right shoulder of the first slip which seemed to be heading towards the third man fence. However, the keeper in Tom Latham produced a well-timed leap to his right at second slip and grabbed it with his left hand which stuck perfectly in the mitts to change the momentum in the game.

Meanwhile, New Zealand utilised the momentum to full effect removing Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane in no time. Although Cheteshwar Pujara and Hanuma Vihari resisted with individual fifties but once they departed, there was no stopping the home side. Kyle Jamieson, who is playing only his second Test grabbed a five-wicket haul while Trent Boult and Tim Southee chipped in with two wickets each to bowl out India for 242 runs to take an early advantage in the game.
