“Still hurts a little bit to swallow” – Trent Boult on T20 World Cup finals loss
Reflecting on the loss in the finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, Trent Boult admitted that it still hurts the pacer to end up on the losing side. He added that the team quickly left for Jaipur after the loss, which helped in moving on from the result. Boult said:
“I have had time to process the result. It still hurts a little bit to swallow the result but life goes on. We quickly went back to the hotel, packed our bags, and were on a chartered flight to Jaipur to play the series against India. It’s all good.”
Speaking about New Zealand’s brilliant run in the T20 World Cup, Trent Boult said:
“I think the boys did themselves proud with what we achieved in this tournament. You get to the final stages there, won against England, and get into that last dance. But unfortunately, we came out on the wrong side of the result. The boys are hurting but hopefully next time we can go all the way, pretty much.”
In the ongoing India vs New Zealand T20I series, the Kiwis are trailing 1-0, after suffering a loss in Jaipur. They will be desperate to bounce back strongly in the second T20I in Ranchi on Friday.
