[WATCH]: Usman Khawaja’s Adorable Interaction With His Daughter In The Press Conference

Usman Khawaja and his adorable daughter Aisha attended the press conference on Saturday, June 17, following Day 2 of the first Ashes 2023 Test. While the batter stole the show on the field with a fantastic hundred, his daughter stole the show during the media interaction.

Following his fantastic 126 not out, Khawaja made the sweet decision to speak with the media while holding his daughter in his lap. But since they are kids, misbehaving is inevitable.

In fact, Khawaja was forced to interrupt his daughter as she was looking through a reporter’s camera roll mid-answer and stop answering the question. According to Fox Sports, Khawaja said the following about his choice to bring his daughter to the press conference:

“She didn’t want to be separated from me. Aisha was also heard asking about her younger sister Ayla, who was born in May 2022.”

The conversation went like this:

“Daddy, baby Ayla isn’t here!”.

“She’s not here; baby Ayla is with Mama, I know that. Two minutes, okay, we’ll be back, I promise,” the cricketer retorted.

The left-handed batter joked before beginning the press conference.

“Let’s do this, I don’t know how long I have left.”

On Saturday, Khawaja was Australia’s standout performer. His unbeaten 126 contained 14 fours and two sixes, and the visitors came back from 67/3 to finish the day on 311/5.

Usman Khawaja discusses his heartfelt victory party in his opening statement

Khawaja has been in outstanding form ever since joining the Test team again at the beginning of last year, scoring seven hundreds in 18 games. However, there were some concerns because, prior to the current tour, the southpaw averaged under 18 in Tests in England.

The batter responded when asked about the hyped celebration:

“Honestly, I have no idea. So I believe it was the result of being dropped on two of three Ashes tours to England.”

“I don’t read the media, but I imagine it was just a little bit more emotional than usual when I was getting sprayed in the nets and when I was walking out there that I can’t bat in England.”

“I feel like I say this all the time, but the same thing happened in India. It’s nice to go out and score runs for Australia, just to show everyone the last 10 years haven’t been a fluke, he continued, even though I don’t have a point to prove.”

At stumps on Day 2 at Edgbaston, Alex Carey (52*) was batting alongside Khawaja. For the sixth wicket, the pair have run up 91 runs.
