In an interaction with Revsportz, Venkatesh Iyer shed light on Gambhir’s personality, saying, “Very tough to make GG sir (Gambhir) smile. He only smiles when we win. But its just his game face as you know he is very intense and is a fierce competitor and that’s why he is regarded as one of the most competitive cricketers or minds of Indian cricket.”

“Off the field, he (Gambhir) himself is such a fun loving guy and he is the one who makes everyone laugh, you know. Sometimes it’s difficult to comprehend that he is the same guy who sits out there (during a match) with a fierce look.”

Iyer’s statement highlights the importance of results in Gambhir’s eyes and how his emotions are closely tied to the outcome of a match.
