Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star batter Virat Kohli, accompanied by his wife and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, returned to Mumbai on Thursday, June 5, after attending the team’s victory celebrations in Bengaluru.

RCB, under the standout performance of Rajat Patidar, secured a thrilling six-run win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL 2025 final held on Tuesday, June 3, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Following the grand celebrations in Bengaluru on Wednesday, June 4, the couple was seen arriving at Mumbai airport the next day.

During the victory celebrations, massive crowds—reportedly in the lakhs—assembled outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, which led to a stampede-like situation. As reported by The Hindu, the unfortunate incident claimed 11 lives and injured 33 others.

Veteran batter Virat Kohli also conveyed his grief over the heartbreaking loss of lives and injuries. He addressed the tragedy through a message shared on Instagram, stating:

“At a loss for words. Absolutely gutted.”

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also announced a compensation of ₹10 lakh for the families of those who lost their lives.

Virat Kohli Shines With Outstanding Batting In IPL 2025

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ended their 18-year wait for an IPL title by winning the 2025 championship, defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS). Almost every member of the team contributed significantly, with star batter Virat Kohli leading the way.

Kohli featured in all 15 matches of the season, amassing 657 runs at an impressive average of 54.75 and a strike rate of 144.71, including eight half-centuries. At 36 years old, he continues to be the highest run-scorer in IPL history.

The Delhi-born cricketer has played 267 matches, all for RCB, scoring 8,661 runs at an average of 39.54 and a strike rate of 132.85, with 63 half-centuries and a record eight centuries to his credit.
