Indian batting icon Virat Kohli looked in great spirits during Team India’s training session at Optus Stadium in Perth ahead of the highly awaited first ODI against Australia on Sunday, October 19. A video circulating on social media showed the 36-year-old running alongside pacers Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana.

As the former India captain gears up for his return to international cricket after March 2025, fans are eagerly waiting to watch him back in action. Both Kohli and Rohit Sharma will feature for India for the first time since the Champions Trophy 2025 final against New Zealand in Dubai.

With the star duo set to reunite in the ODI setup, packed stadiums are expected across all three matches. Watch the clip of Kohli sprinting alongside Harshit and Arshdeep here:

Kohli and Rohit will also look to deliver strong performances in the three-match ODI series to keep themselves in the frame for the 2027 World Cup.

Virat Kohli’s ODI Record In Australia

Virat Kohli boasts an impressive ODI record in Australia. Across 29 matches, he has amassed 1327 runs at an average of 51.03, including five centuries. His highest score on Australian soil, an unbeaten 133, came against Sri Lanka at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart back in 2012.

The upcoming series will also mark a leadership transition, with Shubman Gill set to captain India in ODIs for the first time. With experience of leading in only six List A matches so far, the 26-year-old will face a significant test. The opening ODI in Perth will be India’s first at the venue, which has hosted only three ODI games since 2018.

Known for its pace and bounce, the Perth surface will challenge the technique of the Indian batters. Notably, India had lost their previous ODI series in Australia by a 2-1 margin.
