“Grateful For The Games” – Virat Kohli On His South Africa Heroics

After India won the series, Virat Kohli was named Player of the Series for his outstanding 302 runs in three innings, averaging 151.00 with a strike rate of 117.05, including two centuries and a fifty, with a highest score of 135. Speaking at the post-match presentation, he remarked [as quoted by ESPNcricinfo]:

“Just playing the way I have this series has been the most satisfying for me. Feel really free in my mind, whole game is coming together nicely. I’ve tried to maintain my own standards and make an impact. I can bat long and according to the situation. You have many phases where you feel doubt. You feel nervous, especially in batting where one mistake can cost you. It’s a whole journey, getting better, becoming a better person.”

“I’ve learned to manage negative thoughts, which helps my temperament. Playing freely lets me take risks and hit sixes. The first innings was my best this series, and I’m grateful for how the games went. Must-win matches bring out our best, and I’m happy Rohit and I can still contribute to the team,” Virat Kohli said.
