Team India‘s star batter, Virat Kohli, sparked injury concerns after being seen with a bandage on his knee during a practice session ahead of the second Test against Australia at the Adelaide Oval, starting December 6. A video of the session shared on social media left fans worried.
However, Kohli appeared in fine form, batting fluently without any visible discomfort. The 36-year-old, who was instrumental in India’s 295-run victory in the first Test in Perth, will aim to maintain his momentum. He had remained unbeaten on 100 when stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah declared the innings.

The seasoned batter boasts an impressive record at the Adelaide Oval, averaging 63.63 across four Tests, with two centuries and a top score of 141. He will aim to deliver a similar performance this time.
“Virat Kohli doesn’t need us; we need him”- Jasprit Bumrah
After the first Test in Perth, Bumrah lauded Kohli for staying focused during the second innings and making the most of the flat pitch. Speaking at the press conference, he said, as quoted by ESPN Cricinfo:
“I have said this before, Virat Kohli doesn’t need us, we need him. He is an experienced player. This is his fourth or fifth tour. So he knows his cricket better than anyone else.”
“He looked in good shape, he was mentally switched on. Sometimes when you have such a long career, you bat in tough conditions and he has batted in tough scenarios for a long time, but it’s difficult to do that all the time in every match.”
“But he looked to be in a good space and obviously, he got a good delivery in the first innings, but he was still in a great space and he capitalised in the second innings.”
The visitors face selection dilemmas for the second Test, with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill making their return.
