Former Indian captain Virat Kohli came out to bat amid huge cheers from the Chinnaswamy Ground in the 2nd Test against Sri Lanka on Saturday. Kohli, who plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), is known to be very close to Bengaluru fans.
Kohli, who played his 100th Test in Mohali, came to Bengaluru for a Test match after a long long time and crowd made sure they make it memorable for their favourite son.
As Virat Kohli walked down the pavilion steps and to the crease for the second India-Sri Lanka Test, the ground erupted in deafening cheers and thunderous applause. The BCCI captioned the video as:

Posters of his name were interspersed in the packed stadium and small crowd horns were being blown to their limits. Fans were extremely elated to see Virat Kohli charge into the Chinnaswamy ground.
The 33-year-old cricketer looked determined and played some good shots until and unlucky delivery from Dhananjaya de Silva that kept low got the better of him. Kohli was in utter disbelief as he stood his ground for a few seconds before making the long walk back to the pavilion.
The talismanic run-scorer, who is chasing his 71st international hundred, scored 23 runs off 48 balls, which included two boundaries.

Despite ball turning square and keeping low, the home side managed to post a total in excess of 250 runs after opting to bat first in Bengaluru.
Virat Kohli and Hanuma Vihari steadied the ship after India lost both openers cheaply before Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer launched a counter attack to guide India to a challenging total. Pant struck 36 off 29 deliveries while Iyer produced an innings of a lifetime, scoring 92 off 97 deliveries including 10 boundaries and four sixes.
With another season to play, India will hope to pick up as many wicket as possible to put Sri Lanka on the backfoot.
