[WATCH]- Virat Kohli’s Face Is Misused In Fake Videos Created With Deepfake Technology

A widely circulated social media advertisement, featuring Virat Kohli, promotes an app that claims to offer substantial returns. The rapid progress of technology has brought both advantages and disadvantages to society, with the misuse of Artificial Intelligence (AI) becoming prevalent.

Star India cricketer Virat Kohli is the recent target of Deepfake technology, where his counterfeit voice is used to endorse a betting app. A video ad of the app, promising high returns on investments, is circulating widely on social media with added credibility by including a clip of a renowned TV journalist, creating the illusion of being part of a live news show.

The misleading advertisement asserts that Kohli made INR 81,000 by investing just INR 1,000 in three days. In a subsequent part of the video, the fraudsters incorporated a segment from Virat Kohli’s well-known interview with Graham Bensinger.

They manipulated the original audio of the cricketer, syncing it with a fabricated voice, and employed technology to make him lip-sync the deceptive message. You can watch the video here:

Remarkably, in the realm of cricket, Virat Kohli has opted out of the entire five-match Test series against England citing personal reasons. Despite initially joining the Indian team in Hyderabad before the first Test on January 22, he had to depart on the same day due to personal matters.

India leads the Test series against England 2-1

The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) has honored Kohli’s privacy, permitting him to skip all five matches. Adding a surprising element, Kohli’s close friend and ex-South Africa cricketer disclosed on his YouTube channel that the star cricketer is anticipating his second child with Bollywood actor wife Anushka Sharma.

However, De Villiers later took back his words and said sorry for spreading rumors. In the meantime, with Kohli not playing, India has made a strong comeback in the five-match series.

They were initially losing 0-1 but now lead 2-1 after winning consecutive matches in Visakhapatnam and Rajkot. The fourth Test between the two teams is scheduled for Friday, February 23, at JSCA International Stadium Complex, Ranchi.
