[WATCH]: Wicketkeeper Amusingly Tries To Dismiss Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed As Ball Gets Stuck In Pad During 1st Test Against SL

In the first Test match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka at Galle International Stadium, an amusing incident unfolded involving Abrar Ahmed, Pakistan‘s 11th batsman.

On the third day of the match, during the 120th over of Pakistan’s first innings, Ahmed faced a delivery from Sri Lankan bowler Ramesh Mendis and struggled to defend it.

The ball spun sharply, deceiving Ahmed and grazing his glove before heading towards his pads. To everyone’s surprise, the ball got lodged between Ahmed’s knee and the flap of his pad, creating a humorous situation on the field.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Ahmed decided to playfully taunt Sadeera Samarawickrama, the Sri Lankan wicketkeeper, by not allowing him to retrieve the ball.

As a result, Ahmed found himself outside the crease, with Samarawickrama chasing after him. However, realizing his mistake, Ahmed quickly scampered back to his position just in time, narrowly avoiding being run out.

The incident was captured on video and shared on social media platforms, quickly gaining widespread attention.

Even Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, found the incident highly entertaining, sharing a laugh with his teammates in the dressing room.

Despite the lighthearted moment, Ahmed managed to contribute 10 crucial runs to Pakistan’s overall score, as the team was eventually dismissed for 461 runs.

Sri Lanka had won the toss and chose to bat first in the match. They posted a total of 312 runs in their first innings, with Dhananjaya de Silva impressively scoring a century (122 runs).

Pakistan faced a challenging start with their batting lineup, as their key players failed to make significant contributions.

However, Saud Shakeel‘s unbeaten score of 208 and Agha Salman’s commendable knock of 85 helped Pakistan establish a substantial lead over Sri Lanka.

Among the Sri Lankan bowlers, Ramesh Mendis emerged as the standout performer, claiming a five-wicket haul.

Prabath Jayasuriya also took three wickets, while Vishwa Fernando and Kasun Rajitha managed to secure one wicket each.

Overall, the incident involving Abrar Ahmed added an amusing twist to the intense cricketing battle between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. It provided viewers with a lighthearted moment amidst the competitive atmosphere of the Test match.
