Yashasvi Jaiswal shone with the bat on Day 1 of the second Test between India and the West Indies at Ahmedabad’s Arun Jaitley Stadium on Friday, October 10. The left-handed batter reached his seventh Test century off 145 deliveries, including 16 boundaries, marking his second hundred against the West Indies.
The milestone came in India’s 51st over of the first innings when Khary Pierre delivered a length ball that Jaiswal elegantly whipped off his pads toward square leg, taking two runs. The 23-year-old removed his helmet and kissed the team badge, soaking in the crowd’s applause.
He then formed a heart with his hands and blew flying kisses to the spectators, while his teammates rose to applaud, sharing in the celebratory moment. You can watch the video here:

Yashasvi Jaiswal had scored 171 on his Test debut against the same team in 2023. The Mumbai batsman will now aim to turn his century into his third double hundred.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Shines As India Dominate Day 1 vs West Indies
A masterful batting performance by Yashasvi Jaiswal kept India firmly in control against the West Indies on Day 1 of the second Test. Sai Sudharsan also impressed with a well-crafted half-century. Earlier, KL Rahul was dismissed for 38 off 54 balls, hitting one six and five boundaries.
By the end of 55 overs, India stood at 209/1, with Jaiswal unbeaten on 107 and Sudharsan on 64. Jomel Warrican claimed the only wicket for the West Indies. Led by Shubman Gill, India already lead the two-match series 1-0 after an innings and 140-run victory in the first Test in Ahmedabad.
The hosts continue their unbeaten run at home against West Indies, which dates back to the 1994/95 series.
