Sunrisers Hyderabad have got off to perfect start in the run chase against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Dubai International Stadium. Jonny Bairstow and Manish Pandey steered the chase after losing David Warner. But Bangalore made a stunning comeback courtesy Yuzvendra Chahal including an excellent googly to knock off Vijay Shankar.
Batting first, Devdutt Padikkal and AB de Villiers powered Bangalore to 163 runs after a solid start. Debutant Padikkal was superb with the bat and put the balls across the parks with ease. He played a fina e knock of 56 runs as he and Aaron Finch shared a 90-run partnership.
Sunrisers Hyderabad made a comeback with two back-to-back wickets, but AB de Villiers ensured they have a competitive total on the scoreboard. He put the fifth gear in the death overs to bring up his half-century and ensure that Bangalore go past the 150-run mark.
Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad had an unfortunate start with David Warner getting runout in the freakish manner possible. Struggling at 18 for one, Jonny Bairstow paired with Manish Pandey to keep the scoreboard ticking. While the singles kept coming, Bairstow and Pandey ensured the boundaries kept coming at regular intervals.
However, the luck also didn’t favour Bangalore as Aaron Finch and Dale Steyn dropped sitters from Jonny Bairstow. As the match looked to go away from them, Yuzvendra Chahal stepped in to pick two quick wickets. First, Yuzvendra Chahal removed Bairstow and then delivered a blinder to remove Vijay Shankar.
The googly and it has gone right through the gate. A huge forward stride from Shankar, but he clearly misread the delivery there and played for the leg-break, not to be. A huge relive for Bangalore. It’s RCB’s game now and SRH will need some magic if they are to pull it off from here.
