West Indies have recalled all-rounder Andre Russell to the squad for the CG Insurance first and second T20 Internationals against South Africa.
The Selection Panel of Cricket West Indie, on June 25 (Friday), announced a 13-member squad as the defending champions start their preparations for the series against South Africa. All-rounder Kieron Pollard has been named as the Skipper of the 13-man squad and Nicholas Pooran as his deputy.
Andre Russell is a two-time T20 World Cup winner, having been a member of the squad which won the titles in 2012 and 2016. He has played 49 T20Is for the West Indies and his last appearance was against Sri Lanka in Pallekele in March last year.

Roger Harper, Lead Selector of Cricket West Indies said:
“Andre Russell will add that ‘X’ factor to the team. He is an impact player with both bat and ball and lends greater depth in both departments. The aim is to build on the performance against Sri Lanka earlier this year, to build confidence, while determining our best squad and team as we run into the ICC T20 World Cup.”
The 13-member Squad: Kieron Pollard (Capt), Nicholas Pooran, Fabian Allen, Dwayne Bravo, Fidel Edwards, Andre Fletcher, Chris Gayle, Jason Holder, Evin Lewis, Obed McCoy, Andre Russell, Lendl Simmons, and Kevin Sinclair.
West Indies will look to bounce back after Test debacle
West Indies lost the Test series 2-0 to South Africa, at St. Lucia. South Africa won the first test by an innings and 63 runs and the second test by 158 runs. Quinton De Kock was named as the player of the series, as the wicket-keeper batsman scored 237 runs, in 2 matches at an average of 118.5, including a 141* in the first Test.
The 5 match T20 Internationals series will begin from today, June 26 at St George’s, Grenada.
