Punjab Kings (PBKS) booked their spot in the IPL 2025 final with a convincing five-wicket win over Mumbai Indians (MI) in Qualifier 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, June 1. This marks their return to the IPL final after an 11-year gap. Previously known as Kings XI Punjab, the team last reached the final in 2014.
In that 2014 season, PBKS finished as runners-up after a narrow three-wicket defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Punjab posted a strong total of 199/4 in their 20 overs, thanks to Wriddhiman Saha’s exceptional unbeaten knock of 115 runs from 55 balls.
Despite Saha’s efforts, Manish Pandey stole the show with a brilliant 94 off 50 deliveries, guiding KKR to victory in a nail-biting finish and securing their second IPL title. Now, after more than a decade, Punjab Kings have another opportunity to claim their first-ever IPL trophy. They will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the final on Tuesday, June 3, once again at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
