The IPL 2020 is coming closer to its business end, however, practically, all the teams except Chennai Super Kings are in the race to make it to the playoffs. Many IPL captains have the tough task of winning all their remaining games to stay alive in the tournament and give themselves a chance to reach the playoffs. Meanwhile, with all the serious cricket going around, IPL fans seem to be more worried as to why the various skippers are wearing two caps on the field.
From Eoin Morgan, Shreyas Iyer to David Warner, all have been seen watching two caps in their respective games. The visuals of the same have left the IPL fans ins splits and they have also questioned the reason behind it.
IPL Captains Wearing Two Caps On The Field- Mystery Solved
Well, here is the reason. It is within the safety protocols released by the ICC for cricket in the post COVID era. The ICC has strictly prohibited the on-field umpires from hold on to the caps, towels and glasses of the bowlers during their bowling spell, to avoid body contact. They have also asked players to curb their celebrations by limiting it to just fist pumps to maintain social distancing as well.
The BCCI is following the guidelines stated by the ICC in the ongoing IPL edition as well. This is the reason why IPL captains are seen wearing two caps in the field. They are wearing one of their own and the other of the respective bowler who is bowling the over.
IPL 2020 is more than halfway through this year. Delhi Capitals(14), Mumbai Indians (12), Royal Challengers Bangalore (12) and Kolkata Knight Riders (10) are in the top four at the moment.
Meanwhile, KXIP, RR and SRH also are in the race for that fourth spot in the playoff race. CSK seems more than likely to not qualify for the final four this year having lost seven of their first 10 games in this season so far.
