Team India pacer Akash Deep bought a luxurious new car last week after returning from a successful Test tour of England. The 28-year-old marked the moment by posting pictures on Instagram with the caption, “Dream delivered. Keys received with the ones who matter most,” along with a heart emoji. However, his excitement was short-lived.
According to The Times of India, the Lucknow Regional Transport Office (RTO) issued him a notice on Monday, August 11, directing him to refrain from driving the SUV on public roads. The order cited “incomplete registration formalities” and the absence of a mandatory High-Security Registration Plate (HSRP) and Third Registration Mark (TRM).
HSRPs are special number plates equipped with advanced security features such as laser codes, holograms, and tamper-proof screws, which significantly reduce the risk of theft. The report stated that Akash Deep bought the car on August 7 and was allotted a fancy registration number on August 9.
However, the RTO later discovered that the temporary registration and registration certificate procedures had not been completed on the Vahan portal. The authorities instructed the Indian pacer to appear in person or send an authorized representative within 72 hours, carrying all relevant documents related to the SUV’s purchase.
In addition, the automobile dealer who handed over the vehicle to Akash Deep was also served with a show-cause notice by the RTO.
Akash Deep To Miss Duleep Trophy 2025
Akash Deep has been sidelined from the 2025 Duleep Trophy after enduring a demanding five-match Test series in England. As per PTI, Assam pacer Mukhtar Hussain will replace the Bengal speedster in the East Zone squad. Akash Deep had shown signs of discomfort during the 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in England.
He missed the Manchester Test due to a groin injury sustained in the previous match at Lord’s but returned for the series finale at The Oval, where he struggled to find his rhythm. Across three Tests, he picked up 13 wickets at an average of 36.46, with a standout performance of 6-99 at Edgbaston.
