WI vs IND: [WATCH] India Captain Chats Animatedly With Sanju Samson During The Match Against The West Indies

India batter Sanju Samson‘s presence in the cricketing world never goes unnoticed, and whether he is included in India’s playing XI or not, his performance tends to test the patience of his fans, often failing to capitalize on his chances.

Recently, he was not selected for the first ODI against the West Indies, with Ishan Kishan taking the role of the first-choice wicketkeeper-batter. This decision triggered a wave of sympathy for Samson and frustration towards the Indian team management on social media.

However, things quickly changed when Samson was not only picked for the second ODI but also given the chance to bat at No.3 in place of the rested Virat Kohli. Unfortunately, fate had other plans, and Samson was dismissed for 9.

In fairness to the Rajasthan Royals captain, he seemed more composed in this innings, taking time to adapt to the conditions, but he was ultimately outfoxed by Yannic Cariah, who managed to get an edge to the first slip.

Both fans and the Indian team management aspire for Samson’s success at the international level

Following yet another missed opportunity, India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, was observed engaging in an animated conversation with Samson during a practice session. Rohit continued to show his support by selecting Samson for the series-deciding third ODI, and both Rohit and Virat Kohli opted to sit out once again to provide more playing time to the reserve batters.

Former West Indies opener Daren Ganga emphasized that Samson needs a consistent run in the XI to display his batting prowess fully. Ganga expressed the need to avoid judging Samson based on one inning and highlighted the potential he possesses with the bat. Ahead of the decider at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad, this insight was shared.

The West Indies now have a chance to win a series against India for the first time since 2006. India’s decision to rest Rohit and Kohli presents another golden opportunity for players like Samson, Ishan Kishan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Suryakumar Yadav to prove their worth.

Vice-captain Hardik Pandya led India in the absence of Rohit, as he did in the previous match.
