Tilak Varma, who made his T20 debut with an impactful six, shares his journey and reveals his passion for tattoos. He explains that despite his inclination for tattoos from an early age, he prioritized cricket upon the coach’s advice. Tilak expresses his enthusiasm for pursuing his hobby after showcasing his cricketing prowess.

His selection to Team India marks a significant milestone in Tilak Varma’s career. Recounting the emotional moment, he recalls receiving the news during a Duleep Trophy match.

Tilak Varma made an exclusive statement “West Indies is a very good side in T20. My plan is to play around my strengths, want to stick to basics. This is my first series, so want to give my 100 per cent. I will be a bit nervous but want to give my best. I spoke to Rahul sir during practice that if I end up losing my wicket while giving my best, that’s fine”

“In the first year (of IPL), you are under pressure to do well. You know to get more chances, you have to prove yourself and I played with that mindset. Of course, every player hopes to play for India one day but I wasn’t thinking about it back then. I got the call only after playing well“

Overwhelmed, he immediately informed his parents and coach, and the realization of this achievement left his family and him deeply moved. Ishan Kishan relates to the emotional upheaval of such moments, noting how his family’s tears mirrored Tilak’s experience. Despite the overwhelming emotions, conversation and communication remained limited, as both players understood the depth of their shared sentiment.

Reflecting on his recent performance for Mumbai Indians in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL), Tilak Verma expresses humility and surprise at his Team India selection. While he didn’t anticipate the call-up after his strong T20 league showing, he emphasizes that representing the national team remains the ultimate aspiration for any cricketer.

Tilak’s playing style is rooted in his commitment to his natural game, a principle discussed with captain and coach Rahul Dravid during training. His approach is defined by his determination to play his way, regardless of the outcome, maintaining his individual style.

With an impressive record of 48 T20 matches, Tilak Verma’s batting stats stand at 1457 runs in 47 innings, featuring a commendable average of 37. He has achieved 10 half-centuries and boasts a remarkable strike rate of 143. In List-A cricket, he continues to shine with 5 centuries and 5 half-centuries to his name.
