Veteran India batter Virat Kohli is renowned for his exceptional boundary-hitting and quick running between the wickets. During the West Indies tour, his batting prowess and running skills frustrated the hosts’ bowlers. A noteworthy incident was captured on the stump mic, where Kohli’s alpha persona emerged as he confidently responded to a potential attempt to unnerve him.

When a Windies player seemingly tried to taunt him, Kohli retorted with the statement, “I have been stealing doubles since 2012.”

This glimpse of his unwavering determination showcased Kohli’s unyielding spirit. The video of this assertive moment quickly garnered attention, with fans applauding Kohli’s self-assured response. His reputation as one of the finest runners between the wickets was further solidified, leaving the opposition to think twice before trying to unsettle the cricketing maestro.

Turning to the match itself, India regained control against West Indies on the opening day of the second and final Test at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad.

After being asked to bat first, India started strongly but faced a slight setback in the afternoon session. However, in the final session, Kohli displayed calculated caution, undoubtedly aiming to leave a significant mark in his 500th international match. His composed innings of 87 runs from 161 balls, featuring eight fours, coupled with the valuable support of Ravindra Jadeja (36 not out), helped India regain the ascendancy.

The unbeaten century partnership between Kohli and Jadeja proved to be a thorn in the side of the West Indies, frustrating their bowlers and captain Kraigg Brathwaite, who even resorted to his own off-breaks in search of a breakthrough.

The Test match between the West Indies and India marked a momentous occasion, being the 100th encounter between the two teams since their first match in Delhi in November 1948 during the West Indies’ inaugural tour to the sub-continent.

Despite India’s historical dominance over the West Indies in recent years, the Caribbean side still held a lead of 30-23 in Test victories across the previous 99 matches. As the second Test progresses, cricket fans worldwide eagerly anticipate more spectacular performances from the dynamic Indian team and their captain, Virat Kohli, who continues to lead by example both on and off the field.
