WI vs IND: Zaheer Khan Names The Best Player Of The Test Series

Former Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan praised the exceptional displays of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Yashasvi Jaiswal during the Test series against West Indies. However, he singled out another player as the standout performer.

India emerged victorious with a 1-0 win over West Indies in the two-match Test series, with the second game ending in a draw due to Day 5 being washed out, leaving fans disappointed.

In the second Test, India had several positives to take away. Virat Kohli stole the show with an impressive century in the first innings, scoring 121 runs off 206 balls.

Additionally, Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan contributed with half-centuries in the second innings. Rohit registered 57 runs off 44 balls, while Kishan hammered an unbeaten 52 runs off just 34 deliveries.

Notably, Mohammed Siraj made an impact by securing a five-wicket haul and earning his first Player of the Match award in Tests. However, the absence of a Player of the Series award sparked debate, and Zaheer Khan expressed his opinion on the matter.

Zaheer Khan had high compliments for a particular player

He emphasized that despite Kohli, Rohit, and Yashasvi’s impressive batting performances, the true match-winner was someone else. According to Zaheer, the Man of the Series title should have gone to Ashwin.

Ravichandran Ashwin showcased his brilliance throughout the Test series, claiming a total of 15 wickets with his exceptional bowling. Additionally, he contributed with the bat, scoring 56 runs off 78 balls in the second Test.

In the first Test, he took 12 wickets, including an impressive 7/71 that led to West Indies’ downfall as they were bowled out for 130 in their second innings on Day 3. Moreover, Ashwin bagged three wickets in the second Test.

The Test series also witnessed a remarkable debut performance by Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored a century in his maiden match for India. The young opener displayed his immense potential on the international stage, smashing 171 runs off 387 balls.

Post-series, captain Rohit Sharma lauded Mohammed Siraj and Ishan Kishan, appreciating Siraj’s seamless replacement of Jasprit Bumrah in the pace battery and praising Kohli and Kishan for their batting prowess in the second Test.
