India celebrated 75 years of Independence from British rule on August 15, 2022. Wishes started flooding in on social media from all across the world for the Indians.  The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) also extended its wishes on India’s 76th Independence Day. They found a delightful way to commemorate the occasion, which earned massive praise on social media.

The Melbourne Cricket Ground, on Monday, lit up the stadium in ‘Tricolor’, with respect to the Indian national flag. Taking to Twitter, they shared an image and wrote, “Tonight, we’re lighting up to commemorate the 75th anniversary of India’s independence.” The fans were pleased with Melbourne Cricket Ground’s gesture to celebrate India’s Independence Day.

Every year on Independence Day, the Indians pay their tributes to the freedom fighters and remember the freedom struggle that lasted for years. The Prime Minister hoists the Indian flag on the ramparts of the historical site of Red Fort in Delhi. To mark 75 years of Independence, several events took place, under the banner of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Melbourne Cricket Ground’s gesture won hearts on social media, as the fans lauded their effort.

Melbourne Cricket Ground to host India vs Pakistan ICC T20 World Cup clash

The preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 has already begun as the tournament is just a few months away. Australia will be hosting this edition of the mega-event. India will take on Pakistan in their opening clash of the World Cup at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday, October 23. Both the teams are in Group 2 along with Bangladesh, South Africa, and one team from the qualifiers.

The Melbourne Cricket Ground will host six matches in the super 12 stages. The finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 will also take place at the same venue on Sunday, November 13.
