The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 auction is set to take place on December 9 in Mumbai. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday, November 24 confirmed the date and venue. The tournament is likely to take place in February-March next year across multiple venues.
The WPL 2024 auction will witness some of the biggest names in the cricketing world. Megan Schutt, Georgia Wareham Annabel Sutherland, and Sophia Dunkley will be a part of the auctions along with others. Ahead of the auctions, last month, the WPL franchises released the list of retained players.
A total of 60 players, including 21 foreign players, were retained across five teams. Meanwhile, 29 players were released by the teams. Heading into the WPL 2024 auctions, the Gujarat Giants will have the biggest salary cap available of INR 5.95 crore. Meanwhile, the Mumbai Indians will have the smallest purse of 2.1 crore at its disposal amongst the five franchises.
