Royal Challengers Bangalore ended the home leg with an impressive win over UP Warriorz in match number 11 of WPL 2024 played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on 4th March. UP Warriorz captain Alyssa Healy won the toss and decided to field first. S Meghana came to open the innings along with captain Smriti Mandhana.
Meghana looked impressive putting pressure on the Warriorz bowling. Meghana and Smriti Mandhana added 51 runs laying a strong foundation for a big total. Mandhana was given a reprieve as UP Warriorz missed golden chances to dismiss her. After the timeout, Mandhana and Perry kept the scoreboard ticking with boundaries and sixes. RCB captain Mandhana completed her fifty off 34 balls. Mandhana and Perry looked in great touch before Mandhana was dismissed with a well-judged by Khemnar.
Mandhana and Perry added 95 runs for 2nd wicket. Richa Ghosh came to the crease and joined in the party along with Perry. Perry and Ghosh added 42 runs in quick time as Royal Challengers Bangalore posted 198 for 3 in 20 overs. Chasing 199 runs to win, Alyssa Healy and Kiran Navgire got off to a flying start putting enough pressure on RCB bowlers. Sophie Devine struck dismissing Navgire with a sharp catch by Wareham.
Healy and Navgire added 47 runs for the opening wicket. Wareham dismissed Chamari Atapaththu with a controversial LBW review decision. Devine struck again as Ghosh took a stunning catch to dismiss Grace Harris to leave UP in some trouble. After the timeout, Sobhana Asha grabbed Shweta Sehrawat’s wicket.
Healy looked impressive, reaching fifty, and needed to stay. Molineux struck getting the wicket of Healy with stumping by Ghosh. Deepti Sharma and Poonam Khemnar provided some hope before Deepti Sharma was caught by Sobhana Asha. Deepti and Khemnar added 41 runs for the 6th wicket. Despite Khemnar’s efforts, UPW Warriorz lost the match by 23 runs.
