WTC Final 2021: He’s Definitely In Front Of Virat Kohli At This Stage – Brad Hogg On Kane Williamson

Former Australian leg-spinner Brad Hogg has made a big claim stating Kane Williamson is ahead of Virat Kohli at the moment owing to their performances in the World Test Championship (WTC) Final.

The New Zealand skipper Williamson built a match-winning unbeaten partnership of 96 with Ross Taylor that crowned the Kiwis as the best Test team in the world. Having been set a target of 139 to chase, New Zealand lost both their openers, Latham and Conway, with the score yet to breach the 50-run mark.

Ravichandran Ashwin was bowling beautifully at the time and the pressure of the final was playing on the Kiwis’ mind as well. The two most experienced batsmen in the Black Caps side, Williamson and Taylor then got together to calm the nerves and help New Zealand win their first ICC trophy in over 18 years.

Following the victory, former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg praised the Kiwi skipper in a video posted on his YouTube channel. He called Kane Williamson as the best in the business having scored 52* on a Day 6 track against one of the best bowling attacks in the world.

“Kane Williamson is the best in the business. That innings under extreme pressure on the final day where India were giving everything they possibly could – Bumrah found his rhythm, he was dangerous, beating the outside edge. Shami was at his best but Kane covered everything that was thrown at him,” he said.

The leg-spinner, who has played 7 Tests and 123 ODI’s for Australia, also claimed that Kane Williamson was ahead of Virat Kohli at the moment in terms of batsmanship.

“Just the way that he handled the pressure, I’ll have to say that he’s probably the best batsman at the moment going around at Test match level because of that performance in [the] World Test Championship Final. I think he’s definitely ahead of Virat Kohli at this stage with the way that he conducted himself  there [WTC Final],” Hogg assessed.
