In addition to the Test baton, the winners of the India vs. Australia WTC final will receive a sizeable sum in prize money from the ICC.

The prize money for the winners and runners-up of the World Test Championship final between India and Australia was revealed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday. The match is scheduled to take place at The Oval in England from June 7 to 11.

According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), the Australia-India WTC final will provide a significant incentive for both teams. In addition to winning the longest format of the game, the winners will also receive $1.6 million in prize money. Each of the losers will receive $800,000.

The tournament purse is $3.8 million, the same as it was for the championship’s first iteration, the ICC World Test Championship 2019–21.

Two years ago, thanks to an eight-wicket victory over India in the six-day final. The Kane Williamson-led New Zealand team received $11 million in addition to the glistening Mace in Southampton.

The International Cricket Council Announces Prize Money For The World Test Championship

The $3.8 million prize pool will be split among all nine ICC World Test Championship 2021–23 competitors. By placing third in the 2021–2023 ICC World Test Championship standings, South Africa has earned $450,000.

Prior to their series loss in New Zealand, Sri Lanka was in contention to play in the championship game. Now, they are in fifth place. $200k is their share of the prize money.

New Zealand in sixth place, Pakistan in seventh, the West Indies in eighth and Bangladesh in ninth place will all receive checks for $100,000 each.

India begins their WTC final preparations.

The first group of Indian athletes, led by coach Rahu Dravid and including Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, and Umesh Yadav, arrived early in England. The Indian cricketers held their first practice session on Thursday under the close supervision of Dravid, batting coach BVikram Rathour and trainer Soham Desai.

After IPL 2023 concludes, the remaining Indian cricketers, including captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are expected to depart for England.

India will have a second opportunity to win the Test mace in as many editions with this one. Under Kohli’s captaincy, they lost to New Zealand in the championship game of the previous iteration.
