WTC Final 2023: Ravi Shastri Bashes Indian Batters For Their Poor Choice Of Shorts

Head coach Rahul Dravid stated that arriving in England at least two weeks earlier and playing some side matches would have been ideal for the team prior to the big game after India was humiliated by Australia at the Oval by a score of 209 runs.

On Sunday, former India coach Ravi Shastri sounded doubtful about the likelihood of players receiving an extended break after the IPL or practice matches prior to upcoming WTC final matches unless there is a change in perspective by all the stakeholders.

Rahul Dravid, India’s head coach, said that for the team to have been prepared for the big game, they should have arrived in England at least two weeks earlier and played some side matches. India lost to Australia by a lopsided score of 209 runs at the Oval.

Shastri, on the other hand, did not agree and said that the players would have to decide.

“It won’t ever happen like that. Be honest, shall we. You will receive 20 days, but in that case, you will have to skip the IPL. On Star Sports, Shastri said, “The decision is up to you (the players).”

Shastri also made a suggestion that in order to plan the next steps, the IPL teams and the Board of Control for Cricket in India will need to meet.

The establishment itself must decide. The BCCI will undoubtedly review this in the future. There should be some clauses added for the franchises if the WTC Final is going to follow the IPL in June of that year and your team qualifies for the final, according to Shastri.”

Shastri had previously criticized the Indian top-order batters’ shot choices, saying they let the team down.

However, the pitch’s behavior has surprised me. Both Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara will be cursing the shots they took. They were poor shots given how well they were batting, according to Shastri.”
