WTC Final 2023: “Unwavering Resilience And Commitment” – Ajinkya Rahane’s Wife Pens Heartfelt Note

Team India batter Ajinkya Rahane’s wife, Radhika Rahane has penned a heartfelt note following his gutsy knock against Australia on day three of the World Test Championship final at The Kennington Oval in London. Radhika revealed that the right-handed batter refused to undergo scans after suffering a finger injury, as he wanted to focus on his batting.

The Indian team was in a spot of bother when Ajinkya Rahane came out to bat in the first innings. They were soon reduced to 71/4, in response to Australia’s 469. Rahane played a vital role to keep the team alive in the match. He slammed 89 runs and stitched key partnerships with Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur. The former India vice-captain was hit on the hand on his finger on day two. However, he kept batting, showing great commitment.

Ajinkya Rahane’s wife, Radhika Rahane shared a heartfelt note, following his knock in the test. She wrote,

“Despite your swollen finger, you refused a scan to protect your mindset and focused on batting, displaying incredible selflessness and determination. With unwavering resilience and commitment, you took your place at the crease, inspiring us all. I’m forever proud of your unwavering team spirit, my resilient partner. Love you endlessly!”

Ajinkya Rahane was not out on the field for Team India in the second innings, due to his finger injury. It raised concerns as the veteran batter is an important cog in the Indian batting unit. However, Rahane expressed that he is likely to bat in the second innings. He added that the injury is painful but manageable.

“Painful but manageable. Don’t think it will affect (my) batting (in India’s second innings),” Rahane said.

Team India was bowled out for 296 runs in the first innings. They handed Australia a lead of 173 runs. At the end of day three, Australia took the lead to 296 runs, with four wickets in hand. Cameron Green and Marnus Labuschagne will resume the batting on day four.
