“Never Seen Him Move So Well.”: Infinite Praise From AB De Villiers For India Star

Ajinkya Rahane was given LBW out for 17 on a Pat Cummins delivery. He requested a DRS review, and it was determined that the Australia captain had overstepped.

Day 2 of the World Test Championship final between Team India and Australia at The Oval saw them lose their five key wickets for just 151 runs.

The Indian top order struggled against the bowling attack led by Pat Cummins after bundling out Australia at 469.

India only gained some momentum thanks to Ravindra Jadeja. He scored 48 points off of 51 balls before being caught by Nathan Lyon.

To restore some pride for India, Ajinkya Rahane hit a brilliant 89 in the first innings

Former South Africa batter AB de Villiers praised Rahane for his excellent technique after he played his final Test match for India in January 2022.

De Villiers responded to a tweet from renowned cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle by saying, “I’ve never seen Rahane move so well! Technique is sound and playing it late.”

It is noteworthy that Rahane was given LBW out for 17 on Pat Cummins’ delivery. But he requested a DRS review, and it was determined that the Australia captain had overstepped, giving Rahane a second chance.

Australia’s first innings score of 469 had India reeling at 151 for 5 at the time of stumps, 318 runs behind Australia.

Shubman Gill (13) and Cheteshwar Pujara (14) both made the sinful mistake of misjudging the line and length on a pitch with variable bounce. While the Indian bowlers failed to utilize the bouncer effectively on day one.

Additionally deserving of praise is the tenacious Australian pace trio of Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Scott Boland. They made much better use of The Oval’s surface than their Indian counterparts did.

One hour into the afternoon session, Australia added 142 runs to their overnight score at the cost of seven wickets before being bowled out. With four wickets, Mohammed Siraj was India’s best bowler and cleaned up the tail.
