Former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer is quite popular on Twitter for his witty tweets and memes. The former batsman has also made his own Youtube channel Jaffer has sent a hidden message to the Indian batsmen for the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final against New Zealand in Southampton.
India will take on New Zealand in the all-important final at the Rose Bowl in Southampton, starting June 18 (Friday). The Indian batsmen will be up against a formidable Kiwi pace attack consisting of the likes of Tim Southee, Kyle Jamieson, and Trent Boult among others. The conditions in Southampton are also expected to assist pacers.
With a fierce battle on the cards, Jaffer has advised the Indian batsmen to take inspiration from the police in old Bollywood movies and do what they are famous for.
“I have been on tours to England twice with the Indian team. My coded message for the Indian batsmen is – Do what our police is famous for doing in old Bollywood movies. Use that while batting in the final,” said Jaffer in his YouTube video.
A lot of fans were trying to figure out what the message meant. Many fans understood the code and in the comments section wrote that it referred to the police always arriving late in the movies. Thus, with his coded message, Jaffer wants to convey that the Indian batsmen should try to play late against the New Zealand pacers if the conditions assist seam and movement.
India has a poor record against the Kiwis when it comes to ICC events. India’s only series defeat in the World Test Championship came against New Zealand away from home and Virat Kohli’s men will be wary of their quality bowling attack. New Zealand will be riding high on confidence heading into the final after thrashing England by eight wickets in the recently-concluded second Test to clinch the two-match series 1-0 in England.
Meanwhile, Team India played an intra-squad match in Southampton to get into rhythm ahead of the final and some of the players like Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, and Ishant Sharma impressed in the practice match.
