Young Sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi Backed for Rapid Rise to Senior Level

The cricketing world is abuzz with excitement over 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, whose extraordinary talent has drawn comparisons with the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. Rajasthan Royals’ Director of High Performance, Zubin Bharucha, has urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to accelerate Suryavanshi’s promotion into the senior national setup. Bharucha believes the prodigious youngster should be “blooded” into the Indian team early, much like Tendulkar was at a similar age.

He argues that exposure to international cricket now would nurture Suryavanshi’s development and allow him to mature alongside the world’s best, rather than delaying his inevitable rise through the ranks.

Stunning Performances and Record-Breaking Feats

Suryavanshi’s meteoric rise is backed by a series of remarkable performances across age-group cricket and the IPL. Earlier this year, he etched his name into the record books by smashing the fastest IPL century by an Indian, reaching the milestone in just 35 balls — a feat that left fans and pundits in awe. His form has been equally impressive in the longer format; during a Youth Test match against Australia, he hammered a century in just 78 balls.

This blazing innings placed him in elite company as only the second batter, after Brendon McCullum, to score two sub-100-ball centuries in men’s U19 Test cricket. Such achievements at such a tender age underscore not only his technical proficiency but also his fearlessness and maturity beyond his years.

Dominating World-Class Bowlers and Earning Global Praise

One of the most talked-about moments highlighting Suryavanshi’s exceptional skill came during a Rajasthan Royals training session, where he faced England pacer Jofra Archer. To everyone’s astonishment, Suryavanshi launched a blistering back-foot shot that sailed out of the stadium, earning instant respect from Archer and the coaching staff. Bharucha cited this instance as proof of his readiness for higher-level cricket, insisting that Suryavanshi possesses the temperament, confidence, and natural ability to thrive against world-class opposition.

With such glowing endorsements and a rapidly growing list of achievements, calls for his inclusion in India A tours — and potentially even the senior national squad — are gaining momentum. If given the right platform and guidance, Suryavanshi could follow in Tendulkar’s legendary footsteps and usher in a new era for Indian cricket.
