Yuvraj, Nehra returns to India’s squad for the Australia tour: The Sandeep Patil headed selection panel picked the Indian squad for their upcoming limited-overs tour of Australia starting from January 12. There have been a few notable inclusions and exclusions undergone. The selectors came up with a different set of squads this time around for the two different formats.
Yuvraj Singh, the special cricketer for India is back for the T20s, would be hoping to deliver big down-under for a ticket to the World T20. Ashish Nehra who has delivered decent in the shorter formats in the recent past whether be it IPL or domestic games, sees his comeback into the national team after five years.
Surprisingly Suresh Raina is dropped from the ODI squad but retained for the T20s. Stuart Binny sees his downfall as the horses-for-courses all-rounder being omitted from both the squads. Mohit Sharma, Amit Mishra are other exclusions.
Mohammad Shami, Ravindra Jadeja, Ishant Sharma scripted a comeback in both the limited-overs squads except the lanky pacer from Delhi, picked only for the ODIs. Shami has resolved his fitness issues and played couple of Vijay Hazare games.
India’s batting order is more or less expected to be the same. There have been a few surprise inclusions as well. All-rounders Hardik Pandya and Rishi Dhawan have been picked for T20s and ODIs respectively. Continuing his fine form from Ranji to Vijay Hazare, Karnataka’s Manish Pandey has been given another chance after Zimbabwe tour. Uncapped left-handed pacer Brainder Sran has been called up in India’s squad, someone to watch out for with his sharp swinging deliveries.
