The former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh will go down as one of the greatest match-finishers in the history of Indian cricket. His service to the nation including the 2007 World T20 and ICC World Cup 2011 will forever be etched in the hearts of the cricket lovers.
The flamboyant left-handed batsman from Punjab bursts out of the 2000 ICC KnockOut Trophy where Sourav Ganguly-led Team India finished runners-up to New Zealand. He took the Australian bowling comprising of Brett Lee, Glenn McGrath, and Jason Gillespie to cleaners only at the age of 18 years.
Since his arrival on the international circuit, Yuvraj Singh’s stocks only went higher. He played significant roles in the two World Cups including winning the man of the series award in the 2011 mega event where he played the tournament with cancer. Post that mega-event, the dashing all-rounder’s career graph took a dip. Moreover, with MS Dhoni implementing rotation policy – Yuvraj never earned a long run in the national side.

He finally announced his retirement last year and has since then, played in various franchise-based leagues. However, recently Yuvraj Singh revealed an incident where he almost thought of announcing his retirement during a live chat with former teammate Jasprit Bumrah.
“I realised I should retire after I played with you (Jasprit Bumrah) guys in the final stages of my career. But I actually thought of retirement first in 2018 when I was playing the IPL for Kings XI Punjab and Andrew Tye (Australia fast bowler) started calling me ‘Yuvi pa’,” Yuvraj told Bumrah.

Incidentally, Yuvraj Singh was with the Kings XI Punjab in the 2018 edition; however, didn’t had a great time. Punjab eventually released him after that edition and was later picked by Mumbai Indians in the dying moments of the 2019 IPL auction which was also his last appearance in the cash-rich league.
