Yuzvendra Chahal recently addressed the buzz surrounding his viral t-shirt amid his divorce case. The leg-spinner was seen wearing a t-shirt that read “Be your own sugar daddy” during his appearance at the Bandra Family Court in Mumbai on March 20.
Chahal and his former wife, Dhanashree Verma, were granted a mutual divorce by the court. The 35-year-old initially arrived wearing a black jacket, but once he took it off, the message on his t-shirt caught widespread attention online.

Chahal mentioned that he hadn’t planned to reveal the message on his t-shirt, but did so after feeling provoked. However, he chose not to share what exactly triggered the reaction. While discussing the incident on Raj Shamani’s YouTube podcast (at 49:35), he opened up about the t-shirt and what led to that moment.
“I didn’t want to create any drama. I just wanted to give a message, which I did. Something happened from the other side. I didn’t want to do it initially, but when that happened, I said, ‘Ab sab bhaad mein jaao (go to hell)’. So I just took it off. I didn’t abuse anybody, just gave a message.”
“Took Me 3–4 Matches To Process It”: Chahal Opens Up On Divorce During IPL 2025
Yuzvendra Chahal admitted it was tough to focus on cricket during his divorce, especially in the early stages of IPL 2025, where he played for Punjab Kings after being signed for a record ₹18 crore. Speaking on the podcast (at 50:37), he revealed he wasn’t mentally prepared for the first few games.
“The IPL was about to start, and I wanted the case to be over before that. I think the final hearing was on the 19th of March. Even at that time, I was not a hundred per cent fit mentally. But a team had bought me for a very good amount, and I was in their plans. If I quit that, there wouldn’t have been a bigger loser. It took three or four games for me to process it.”
