Mike Hesson, the coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has said that leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal will be a part of the leadership group and being the senior spinner in the side will take up the extra responsibility with the ball in the tournament.

Hesson also spoke on the real motive behind organising this intra-squad match. “We looked about matchups, so obviously we looked for left-right hand combination. We want to look at some possibilities in terms of partnerships. We also want to provide left-arm, right-arm leg spinners in each thinking looking to control the matchups that they are likely to face in the tournament.”

Talking to Danish Sait during an intra-squad RCB match, Hesson spoke about Chahal’s role in detail on the Bold Diaries. “We want him as part of our leadership group, where he brings in different perspectives and controls the spin bowling group of ours. We want him to think a little bit more about the game” said Hesson.

Yuzi Was Pumped To be Captain: Simon Katich

RCB Assistant coach Simon Katick also spoke his mind on the reason behind choosing Chahal as captain. ” The first battle is obviously the battle of the captains. We have team Kohli and team Chahal. When I gave Yuzi the news that he was captain, he was pumped.”

RCB spinner Yuzvendra Chahal also spoke his mind on captaining the side. When asked about his experience in leading the side he said ” Yes I am very happy and in the past, I did this job and you know what I will always win, my record is 100 percent”.

The match was basically a dress rehearsal for the players before their first game of the season against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on September 21.

The IP trophy has stayed afar from RCB under the leadership of Virat Kohli. The RCB skipper had earlier said that this season’s squad is the most balanced ever and they are hoping to win the title in 2020.
