Opening batter Prithvi Shaw once again failed to find a spot in the Indian team as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the team for the upcoming ODI series against Zimbabwe. The 15-member will be led by Shikhar Dhawan in the away series which begins on August 18 and will conclude on August 22 at the Harare Sports Club.
Prithvi Shaw will be disappointed to be ignored by the Indian team. So far, he has played six ODI matches for India, scoring 189 runs at an average of 31.50. He also had a decent Indian Premier League 2022 season for the Delhi Capitals team. In ten matches, the opener scored 283 runs at a strike rate of 152.97, including a couple of half-centuries. He also performed well for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy this year, but couldn’t convert his stats.
The 22-year-old last played for India in 2019 during the Sri Lanka series in July. On Saturday, the fans were disappointed that Prithvi Shaw was not included in the Indian team for the ODI series against Zimbabwe. The Indian selectors went ahead with the likes of Rahul Tripathi, Ishan Kishan, and Shubman Gill as the openers.
Let’s take a look at how the fans reacted to Prithvi Shaw’s non-inclusion:
Former cricketer Dodda Ganesh took to Twitter to express his disappointment over Prithvi Shaw’s non-inclusion. He expressed that the opener is an all-format player and it is “unbelievable” that he is not part of the limited-overs teams. Dodda Ganesh wrote,
“Prithvi Shaw being completely ignored is really shocking. This young man has a game for all the formats. It’s unbelievable that he doesn’t find a place even in the second-string Indian white-ball sides #DoddaMathu #CricketTwitter”

@PrithviShaw – Hundred on Test Debut, Averages 56 with a Strike Rate of 125 in List A… Still didn't get a chance against Zimbabwe! Why ? @chetans1987 @BCCI https://t.co/bpo9Bwc2gk

#IndianCricketTeam needs to invest on #PrithviShaw .He needs to be groomed & helped. He's too talented to sit out Indian Team.
With all due respect, to whatever we have seen of #ShubhmanGill but till now, he looked someone who's stuck in 90's style of cricket.

The curious case of Prithvi Shaw. Despite being a part of the Test squad in England tour during 2021, he suddenly seems nowhere near the Indian squad in all three formats.
Surely he isn't that bad to miss out on the Zimbabwe tour? #ZIMvIND

Prithvi Shaw again dropped.Dont now why BCCI is angry with this gentleman who is continuously kept out of the team around the issues like steroids,fitness behaviour.This shear vengeance against this instinctively attacking opener batsman.#BCCI#SELECTION COMMITTEE.

Rahul Tripathi's selection in ODIs ahead of Prithvi Shaw, Devdutt Padikkal and Nitish Rana is just another case of selectors' lack of domestic knowledge, like the selections of Kishan, SKY and Samson in ODIs

Prithvi Shaw is good enough batsman to at least get a chance in Zimbabwe tour , definitely better than Rahul Tripathi
And Vektatesh Iyer too should have been in the squad at least in absence of Hardik— Shreyas 🇮🇳 (@Shreyas_M18) July 30, 2022
