IPL 2020: R Ashwin Engages In Funny Banter With Chris Gayle Post Punjab’s Win Over Delhi

Kings XI Punjab won three back to back games in IPL 2020 to surge to number five in the points table. They have defeated the table toppers in their second leg with their latest win coming against Delhi Capitals, who are placed at the top with 14 points.

KXIP beat DC by five wickets as they successfully chased down 165 inside 19 overs. Chris Gayle played a cameo and was ultimately dismissed by Ravichandran Ashwin, who took his wicket for the fifth time in his career.

R Ashwin Engages In Twitter Banter With ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle

After the game, Ashwin sent out a tweet on Gayle with the picture of him tying the Universe Boss‘s shoelaces in between the game.

‘The devil is always in the detail. Tie both his feet together, before bowling to him” Ashwin captioned his tweet.

Personally, it was a good game for Ashwin who bowled a spell of 1 for 28, taking the prized wicket of Gayle. Despite Ashwin’s success with the ball, Delhi was beaten rather comprehensively by Punjab. This was Delhi’s third loss of the season.

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals skipper Shreyas Iyer said that this loss was a wake-up call for his side.

“This is like a wake-up call for us. Going forward we are going to face tough situations and tougher teams. We have played amazing cricket in the past but we have to leave that in the past,” Iyer said at the post-match virtual press conference.

He further said that his team will come out all guns blazing in their next game and win it to book a place in the playoffs.

“We have to come out all guns blazing, play with freedom and take more responsibility. We need one match to qualify and keeping that in mind, we will take one match at a time,” he added.

Shreyas Iyer has scored 335 runs from 10 games in this season so far at an average of 37.22 and a strike rate of 131.37. He has scored two fifty-plus scores, batting in the middle-order.
