South Africa women defeated England comfortably by seven wickets in the first ODI match at Worcester. Lizelle Lee played a gem of an innings to take the side home. It is to be noticed that all the women’s ODI matches are a part of Championship which in turn plays a vital role in direct qualification for the world cup 2021.
Though England women lost the match, they gave a tough fight as the match went on till the 46th over. Sarah Taylor, their wicketkeeper displayed her brilliance behind the wicket with her lighting skills.
Her efforts to stump Sune Luus off Anya Shrubsole is something that deserves attention. Taylor’s skill reduced Southafrica to 5/2 initially but later was outplayed by Van Niekerk’s captain’s knock of 58. The reaction time is unknown but it was really fast enough to dismiss Luus for a golden duck.
The video was tweeted by the England cricket board in their Twitter handle. England stars Danielle Wyatt and Sarah Taylor have a huge fan following in the social media. Women’s cricket has received public attention since the World cup 2017. The fan following has been immense and this will really ponder ICC to have the considerable number of women’s games.
The second ODI will be played at county ground, Hove on June 12
