The mini-auction ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season is all set to take place on Tuesday, December 19 in Dubai. The deadline for trading window and retention of players ended last week. The ten Indian Premier League franchises have retained a total of 173 players from the last season.

According to a report by Cricbuzz, a total of 1,166 players from all across the world have registered for the 2024 Indian Premier League mini-auction. Out of these, 830 are Indian players, and 336 are overseas players. The player list includes 212 capped, 909 uncapped, and 45 players from Associate nations. 77 slots across 10 franchises are to be filled, with a maximum of 30 overseas players.

Meanwhile, 18 Indian capped players have registered in the auction, namely Varun Aaron, KS Bharat, Kedar Jadhav, Siddarth Kaul, Dhawal Kulkarni, Shivam Mavi, Shahbaz Nadeem, Karun Nair, Manish Pandey, Harshal Patel, Chetan Sakariya, Mandeep Singh, Barinder Sran, Shardul Thakur, Jaydev Unadkat, Hanuma Vihari, Sandeep Warrier and Umesh Yadav. A few of these are expected to be the ones to watch out for at the auction table.

Four Indian-capped players set a 2 crore base price for the auction

Out of the 18 capped Indian cricketers, Harshal Patel, Kedar Jadhav, Shardul Thakur, and Umesh Yadav have set their base price at a maximum of Rs 2 crore, reported Cricbuzz. All of these four were part of the 2023 Indian Premier League but were released by their respective franchises ahead of the upcoming auction. Meanwhile, the rest of the 14 capped players will be available at a base price of Rs 50 Lakh.

The Indian Premier League franchises are expected to target World Cup performers at the auction. The likes of Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Travis Head, Daryl Mitchell and Rachin Ravindra are among the top overseas names in the auction list. However, pacer Jofra Archer has not enrolled himself in the auction list. He was released by the Mumbai Indians recently.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also requested the franchises to respond with additional player requests. The requested players will be added to the auction if they are eligible and interested. The franchises also need to submit a list of players they are interested in from the registered list of players.
