Team India sported a retro jersey for their ODI series down under against Australia. The jersey resembles India’s World Cup 1992 jersey. The event was held back in Australia that year and was won by Pakistan. Meanwhile, India have gone back to the olden days as the jersey might suggest.
There are also three stars on the jersey which suggests a number of things. Meanwhile, Indian skipper Virat Kohli has his own version of those three stars. In the pre-match virtual press conference, Kohli spoke about three stars which are there in the retro jersey.
India boast three stars in retro jersey
“I know there’s a billion-plus hope always riding on our team. That’s why I try to play with responsibility and with respect to the team’s needs. The pressure’s always on, so my focus has to be too. I feel really proud – for me the Three Stars on the jersey represents what the Indian team is today and how much they have achieved” said Kohli.
Meanwhile, the three stars on India’s retro jersey actually signify the three ICC titles that India have won in their cricketing history, They won their first World Cup back in 1983 under the leadership of Kapil Dev. MS Dhoni then won the team two world cups. India won the maiden T20 World Cup in 2007. Four years later, he led India to their second 50-over World Cup title in India. This was India’s second World Cup win after 28 years.

Meanwhile, the Australian team has raced to 374 in their 50 overs in the first ODI against India in Sydney. Chasing a record-score India is all set to lose the game by a fair margin. The second ODI between the two teams will be played on Sunday at the same venue. India will have to rethink their strategy to win the next game. A loss in the second ODI will mean that India will lose the ODI series even if they win the final game.
