Star Kiwi Opener Martin Guptill played a sensational knock in the World Cup against West Indies and became the first-ever New Zealand batsman to score a double century in ODI.

The pressure of a big game was unable to stop Guptill from scoring a double century. He demolished the West Indies bowling line-up by scoring unbeaten 237 runs off 163 balls including 24 fours and 11 sixes he batted with a strike rate of 145.39.

Martin Guptill’s knock helped Blackcaps to reach 393 and eventually win the match. New Zealand bowled out West Indies at the score of 250. Martin Guptill holds the record for highest runs scored in an ICC World Cup.


1. Rohit Sharma | 264 v/s Sri Lanka, Kolkata (2014)

November 13, 2014, Eden Gardens Kolkata, The world of cricket witnessed a storm named Rohit Sharma. Hitman was making his comeback in the team after an injury. Nobody knew what Rohit was up to.

Indian vice-captain opened the innings with Ajinkya Rahane and played till the last ball of the match. He scored unbelievable 264 runs off 173 balls which included 33 fours and 9 sixes and he batted with a strike rate of 152.60.

With the help of Rohit’s innings, India was able to reach the giant score of 404 runs and they won the match by 153 runs. Rohit Sharma himself defeated Sri Lanka by 13 runs as Sri Lanka scored only 251 runs.

Ro-hit man Sharma was able to register his name in record books by scoring the highest ever individual score in ODI, he also created the record of most boundaries ( fours + sixes ) in an ODI inning and most balls faced in 50over format.
