India Under 19 women’s team ended the Group stage with a resounding 83 runs win over Scotland played at Willmore Park B, Benoni on 18 January 2023.
India Under 19 captain Shafali Verma won the toss and decided to bat first. Shafali Verma perished cheaply scoring just 1 run. Sonia Mendhiya and Gongadi Trisha steadied the ship for the Indian team putting on 32 runs for the 2nd wicket. Richa Ghosh came at number 4 looking good along with Trisha. Both Indian batters kept the momentum going with boundaries and taking singles quickly.
Trisha completed her fifty off and added 70 runs for the 3rd wicket along with Richa Ghosh. Shweta Seharwat produced a brilliant counterattacking knock remaining not out on 31 off 10 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes to help the Indian team post 149 for 4 in 20 overs.
The Indian bowlers delivered the goods with another superb display of bowling. Mannat Kashyap ended with figures of 4 for 12 in 4 overs, Archana Devi with 3 for 14 in 4 overs, and Sonam Yadav with 2 wickets giving away just 1 run to bowl out Scotland for just 66 runs in 11 overs.

It was a dominating display by the Indian team in the Group stage finishing with 6 points. For her 4 for 12 in 4 overs, Mannat Kashyap was named the player of the match award. Indian team won their all matches in the Group stage.
The Indian team produced sensational performances so far in the Group stage. They won their opening match against South Africa by 7 wickets after conceding 166 for 5 in 20 overs. Shweta Seharwat produced a magical knock along with Shafali Verma’s quickfire knock. Seharwat remained not out on 92 helping Team India win the match with 21 balls to spare.
They produced another brilliant display of cricket against UAE. Thanks to a brilliant knock by Shafali Verma with 78 off 34 balls, the Indian women posted a massive total of 219 for 3. Indian team restricted UAE to just 97 for 5.
Indian team has been clubbed with Australia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, South Africa, and UAE in Group 1 of the Super Six stage.
