Ashes 2023: Ollie Robinson Defends His Outburst After Sending Usman Khawaja off In The First Test

Ollie Robinson, an English pacer, acknowledged that he doesn’t care how Usman Khawaja‘s celebration of his wicket was received online.

Ollie Robinson does not regret the celebration he had after dumping Usman Khawaja.

After dismissing Khawaja for 141, Robinson appeared to curse at Khawaja. At Edgbaston, England finished the day with a 28/2 score and a 35-point lead.

According to England’s Ollie Robinson, he doesn’t care how Usman Khawaja’s celebration of his wicket on Day 3 of the first Ashes Test was viewed by the Australian team or on social media.

Robinson launched into an expletive-filled tirade directed at Usman Khawaja that has drawn widespread condemnation in the cricketing community.

When play was halted early on day three due to two rain delays, England was down to 2-28 in their second inning and will look to increase their 35-run lead.

Khawaja’s outstanding 141 helped Australia reach its total of 386 before the visitors quickly took two England wickets when play resumed after the first brief rain delay.

In the first 20 minutes of play, the Australians took advantage of the gloomy weather.

Pat Cummins removes Ben Duckett after a superb catch from Cam Green and Scott Boland catching Zak Crawley behind on 7.

Prior to more rain arriving and washing the rest of the day away, Joe Root managed to survive several lbws and became involved in appeals.

However, Robinson’s earlier dismissal of Khawaja—whom the England bowler was heard cursing as he dismissed for 141—attracted the majority of the attention.

At the press conference following the day, Robinson stated, “We’ve all seen Ricky Ponting and other Aussies do the same to us. The fact that the shoe is on the other foot alone does not guarantee positive reception.”

Robinson, 29, has not been contacted by the match official and declined to comment when asked if he anticipates being.

The Sussex player said, “It’s my first home Ashes Test and to get the big wicket was special.”

“Uzzie played amazingly well, and getting that wicket was huge. I’m here to give it to you because we want that game’s theater.”

“I really don’t care how people react. The Ashes are a competitive sporting event.”

When asked if Khawaja’s outburst might make him a target for the Australians, Robinson replied, “If you can’t handle that, what can you handle?”.
