In the IPL 2024 match against Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 7, Delhi Capitals (DC) all-rounder Axar Patel made a remarkable one-handed catch on his follow-through while bowling to dismiss the dangerous Ishan Kishan.
Kishan quickly scored 42 runs off just 22 deliveries, hitting a huge six off Axar’s bowling in the first ball of the 11th over. Despite this, Axar reacted swiftly to Kishan’s fierce pull shot on the next delivery, which was short and outside off.
However, Axar Patel calmly stretched his left hand and executed an extraordinary one-handed catch, leaving Kishan astonished. Watch the video showcasing Axar’s remarkable catch following a six conceded off the prior delivery:

Ishan Kishan displayed excellent form during his innings, hitting four boundaries and two sixes. The wicketkeeper-batsman partnered with former captain Rohit Sharma to score 80 runs off just 42 balls, giving MI a strong start.
Although he fell just eight runs short of his half-century, Kishan’s contribution helped MI reach a commanding position at 111/3 in the 11th over.
Axar Patel grabs another impressive catch to dismiss Tilak Varma
Axar Patel’s exceptional performance at the Wankhede Stadium continued as he seized another opportunity with a sharp catch in the backward point region to dismiss Tilak Varma. After already claiming the wickets of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan, the 30-year-old secured his second catch of the game.
Khaleel Ahmed delivered the ball short and wide outside off-stump, prompting Tilak to attempt a hard-hitting cut shot, but he only managed to find the fielder at backward point. The dismissal resulted in Mumbai Indians being four wickets down with a score of 121 in the 13th over of their batting innings.
Both teams are eager for a win to revive their struggling 2024 IPL season. Delhi Capitals have lost three out of four games played so far, while Mumbai Indians remain the only team yet to secure a victory, losing all three matches.
Following Tilak’s departure, Hardik Pandya and Tim David stabilized the Mumbai Indians’ innings with a fifty-run partnership. At present, MI is on track for a strong total with two overs remaining.
