Naib’s addition provides the team with a like-for-like replacement for Marsh, given his all-round abilities and experience, having played 65 T20 matches for Afghanistan. The need for Naib’s inclusion arose due to Marsh’s injury at the beginning of the month, which rendered him unavailable for selection.
In Marsh’s absence, Shai Hope had been filling in, but the Capitals sought a player with similar skills to bolster their squad for the crucial phase of the IPL season. Naib’s versatility in both batting and bowling departments makes him an ideal candidate to fill the void left by Marsh’s absence.
