IPL 2024: Who Is Rasikh Salam – Here Is All You Need To Know About Delhi Capitals Player

In the recent clash between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday, April 24, Rasikh Salam, the right-arm fast-medium bowler, emerged as the standout performer for DC.

Led by Rishabh Pant, Delhi secured a thrilling victory by a narrow margin of four runs, showcasing their ability to thrive under pressure. Batting first, Delhi set a challenging target of 225 runs, with notable contributions from Axar Patel (66) and Rishabh Pant (88*). Despite a spirited chase by the Titans, they fell short in the final over, managing only 220 runs.

Salam, designated as an Impact Player, truly justified his title by leaving a significant mark on the game. The 24-year-old from Jammu and Kashmir displayed his skill by taking three crucial wickets for 44 runs in his full quota of four overs.

Among his notable dismissals was GT’s Impact substitute Sai Sudharshan, who scored 65 runs off 39 deliveries. Salam also contributed with a crucial catch off Mukesh Kumar’s delivery to dismiss David Miller, who also scored a half-century in GT’s chase. His remaining victims were Shahrukh Khan and Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore.

Beyond his bowling prowess, Salam’s impact extended to fielding as well. He currently represents Jammu and Kashmir in domestic cricket. Salam was initially signed by Mumbai Indians during the player auction for the 2019 IPL, becoming the third cricketer from Jammu and Kashmir to join the league.

At the age of 17, he became the youngest player to debut for the Mumbai-based franchise. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) imposed a two-year ban on him in the same year due to a birth certificate discrepancy. Salam returned to IPL when Kolkata Knight Riders acquired him in the auction for the 2022 edition before eventually being picked up by the Delhi Capitals.
