In the current scenario, one question that has been going around is about if the ICC T20 World Cup will take place in Australia later this year. If it does go ahead as per the schedule, Cricket Australia is ready to invite crowds to enter the stadiums.

Meanwhile, a lot of speculations have been going around since the last month over the last month. With the curve flattening in Australia it looked like a possibility, but Earl Eddings confirmed that hosting T20 World Cup is an unrealistic dream.

Fans can enter if T20 World Cup goes as per plan – Cricket Australia

Cricket Australia’s interim CEO Nick Hockley said if things go as per plan, they will allow fans to witness the games from the stands. The interim CEO also said that different possibilities are being worked out for the global event to go ahead as scheduled later this year in wake of the COVID19 pandemic.

“If 15 teams can be allowed to enter Australia for the ICC T20 World Cup then fans will not be barred from watching live action from the stadiums,” he added.

“If I compare it with the prospect of a bilateral tour, you’re talking about bringing one team in and then playing individual matches. But the prospect of bringing 15 teams in and having six or seven teams in one city at the same time, it’s a much more complex exercise,” he added.

When asked if the interim CEO would like to assume a full-time role with CA he did not comment, but he did say that he would quit as CEO of the T20 World Cup Organising Committee. Hockley recently replaced Kevin Roberts as the CEO of Cricket Australia after the board had a fallout with Roberts.

“My approach throughout my entire career has been to focus on doing the best job I can, and the future will look after itself,” he concluded.
