Shubman Gill was seen sharpening his power-hitting and perfecting his reverse sweep during an open net session at PCA Mohali. The Indian batter is preparing for the upcoming three-match ODI series against England, set to begin on Thursday, February 6, in Nagpur.

The 25-year-old recently featured for Punjab in their 2024-25 Ranji Trophy clash against Karnataka. Although he managed only four runs in the first innings, he bounced back with a superb 102 off 171 balls in the second, striking 14 boundaries and three sixes. However, Punjab faced a crushing defeat by an innings and 207 runs.

With the crucial ODI series on the horizon, the right-handed batter turned his focus to refining his skills in an open net session. The Punjab Cricket Association’s official account shared a video of the practice on X, captioning the post:

“Shubman Gill painting the field with his strokes! Pure timing, precision, and class at PCA Mohali.”

Shubman Gill has an exceptional ODI record for India, amassing 2,328 runs in 47 matches at a remarkable average of 58.20. His stats include 13 half-centuries and six centuries. His highest score in the format is 208, a milestone he reached against New Zealand at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in 2023.

Shubman Gill Appointed as India’s Vice-Captain for 2025 ICC Champions Trophy

At a press conference on January 18, 2025, captain Rohit Sharma and chief selector Ajit Agarkar unveiled India’s 15-member squad for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, naming Shubman Gill as the team’s vice-captain.

India has been drawn into Group A for the marquee tournament, set to commence on February 19, where they will compete against New Zealand, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.
